DEVELOPMENTAL EDIT
In this type of edit, I will make one pass through your document and give constructive feedback on flow, story, structure, tense, consistency, and more. This is the first type of edit you’ll want to have someone perform before they get into the nitty-gritty of things like syntax, punctuation, sentence structure, etc.
PRICE: $50-$60/hour, depending on content type and complexity
COPY/LINE EDIT
In this type of edit, I will make one pass through your document and rearrange sentences, ensure proper grammar and punctuation, correct syntax, insert quotation marks, etc. This is the second type of edit you’ll want to have someone perform so your document looks professional and is largely free of errors that will be obvious to the average reader.
PRICE: $40-$50/hour, depending on content type and complexity
PROOFREAD
In this type of edit, I will make one pass through your document and look for glaring errors that are obvious to any eye. This includes but is not limited to things like spelling mistakes, errant commas, misplaced quotation marks, and missing or mixed-up words. This is a light, surface-level edit that should be done as a final step before formatting and publication.
